El Hed
El Hedd or ElHedd is a village in the Akkar District of Lebanon, Asia.

The church of Saint Nohra (Nohra, deriving of the Aramaic word "Nuhro" meaning "Light" or "The Light") was built by the villagers of El Hed Akkar, North Lebanon, in the late 19th to early 20th century. The exact history is unknown due to the lack of available written historical records. Knowledge of the village, and its history, comes mainly from the detailing of its inhabitants. Information has also been gathered through heirlooms, and documents passed down in the local families.
The church of Saint Nohra in El Hedd Akkar had been demolished for reconstruction by the villagers, and was reconstructed in 1972 with a concrete roof in the month of Sawan, the fifth month of the Nanakshahi calendar (Which runs through the Julian calendar 16 July to 15 August). The Inhabitants of El Hedd did not leave any part of the original church in the reconstruction. However, it was remembered by locals to have been beautiful in appearance, while small with red tile roofing. The original church of Saint Nohra lies in ruins across the river of Estwan, away on a hilltop surrounded by thick pine and oak trees. No one knows when the original church was built, but it was likely around the 5th or 6th century. In its heyday, this now neglected historical site was surrounded by Maronite villages on both sides of the Al-Estwan river. However, Sunni villages have been built closer to the ruins of the church and its surroundings over the past 200 years. They have replaced the Christians in the area after the Turkish invasion under the old Ottoman Empire which had ruled Lebanon for more than 400 years. There are still ruins of churches in the village of "Mazraate Baldah" - one of them is "Al-Saaidah" or the Virgin Mary's church. An ancient and majestic oak tree with its branches extending over 15 meters is still revered by the Islamic villagers, who refer to the tree and the surrounding ruins as "Al-Saaidah". There is a lot of reverence for the site and no one will cut a branch from the tree, which is estimated to be around 500 years old.
